The Ally J Band has released a Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) track called Trust In You.
Allison Reitenbach writes: "Despite the things I've dealt with throughout my own life, I originally wrote this song 8-9 years ago to reflect the stories of some people I knew who were dealing with big health uncertainties. The original version was a bit longer. I never had done a studio recording of it until this past year.
Two of my cousins and I performed it at the church I was currently attending at the time in 2014. A lady named Liisa Livengood came up to me and expressed how much she enjoyed and appreciated the song and its message. She had been through something most people have to deal with but her faith and trust in Jesus remained firm.
Her husband had passed away a few years before unexpectedly after the doctors found an issue with his heart. They had 6 kids with one on the way at the time of his passing. She spent around 6 years with just her and her 7 children till God brought along her second husband Andrew. They had 3 more children.
In September of 2020, this song came back to my mind, and wasn't really sure why, but knew there had to be a reason. So I began reworking it to be a little more recording-friendly. I set it aside a few days and planned to get back to it later. Shortly after, something very unexpected happened. I got a text from my friend/keyboard player Jennie, that Liisa Livengood had passed away very unexpectedly without any warning that evening. Jennie is Liisa's aunt, but they were right around the same age. That's a story for another time.

After hearing of her passing, I knew God wanted me to do something with this song. So I got one of my cousins who had played the song originally, Ashley, and a friend from church, Travis. I then recruited some friends who are now band members, Dave, Chaese, and Jennie, to play and record this song. We then decided to record some other original music in which the Ally J Band was then formed! My vision was to create a music video for this song, which we did over the summer, and dedicate it in memory of Liisa Livengood. We then created a story behind the song video which we released right around the one-year anniversary of Liisa's passing."
Lyrics:
Verse 1
Trials come when we least expect
We start to lose hope and wonder
Will everything be ok
With strength from above
God wants you to say
Chorus
Oh Lord have Your way
I belong to You
Take my life and let it be
A testimony oh Lord for thee
I give my all to You
No matter what happens
Or comes my way
I put my trust in You God
I put my trust in You
Verse 2
He went to the cross
Died and rose again
So you that you and I
Wouldn't have to die
That eternal death in sin
We can have eternal hope
And peace within
All He asks is that we humbly pray
Repeat Chorus
Instrumental
Chorus then tag
