Saturday, Swedish Christian artist Mats Dernánd was declared winner in the Gospel/Inspirational category in world-leading of world-leading USA Songwriting Competition. "That they have chosen my song from a total of overall 50,000 entries is hard to comprehend," says Mats. The winning song "Judas" is a pop song about the world's most infamous traitor and the ongoing battle for our souls. "I use this very well-known character to ask questions about good and evil that affect all humans. It feels completely unreal that a jury with the world's largest record company has hand-picked my song from such a huge sum of entries," says Mats. "Until now I'm an unknown Swedish songwriter and artist. Winning such a big competition now feels very encouraging – I screamed straight out!"
