Olly Kiff's 'Worthy (Acoustic)' is a song about the here and now. The lyrics are inspired by Revelation 5, where every single angel in heaven is singing praises to God. Olly took this idea and applied it to his own life, writing about how he wants to praise God right now—and he knows that even when he gets to heaven, his heart will still be singing His praises.
It's a song that I believe everyone can relate to, because we all know what it feels like to get caught up in our everyday lives and forget to worship God. Maybe that's why I like this song—it reminds us that we should be praising Him no matter where we are or what we're doing, because He is worthy of it!
The first verse starts off with an image of all the angels around His throne forever singing, praising, and worshipping Him. This sets us up for the chorus: 'Worthy is the Lamb that was slain; worthy is the Name above all names.' He's referring to Jesus Christ, who died for our sins on the cross and rose again so that we might live. It's impossible not to feel like our lives are full of meaning when we realize how much He sacrificed for us.
After the chorus comes another verse, a verse that describes how we are not worthy of such praise, but that God still loves us anyway. Grace in its purest form. That's why this song resonates with me, this song reminds me of how great God is and how much He loves me, regardless of all of my faults.
I hope you enjoy listening to this song as much as I do!
