I suffered from severe postpartum depression. I was fortunate to have a lot of support—but it was the toughest time of my life. I remember trying to explain to the doctor that it felt like someone took out everything inside of me and replaced it with a black hole. I had everything anyone could want—and didn’t want to exist.
That feeling has come back over the years. And the more people I’ve spoken with about it, the more I realize I’m far from alone.
There is a stigma when it comes to mental health and we must stop it."
If you are struggling with severe depression and/or thoughts about suicide, then please reach out to people who can listen and help you. You are not alone in this struggle, but sometimes the people around you just don't realize that you are in one of your blackest holes. Pray for the courage to reach out for help. If you don't know where to start, then walk into any church nearby and talk to a pastor/minister and share your fears/thoughts.
